I am afraid your letter of January
12th has remained unanswered rather long, but I only
came back on the 19th from Switzerland and have found
more than the usual mount of work waiting for me.
As regards Captain Taylour, I find his case has
been very fully before us. His grievances seen to
centre largely on matters of allowances with regard to
which we followed Treasury rulingswich applied to
everyone else in the same position. He was granted
a Colonial allevance tomake up the mount of his
naval pay to the mount of his Colonial salaży and for
this purpose the Treasury decided that extra allowances
such as transport allowance, his detached duty allow-
ance and his bonus as an officer on the Fergency List
should all be rockaned in, so that his total position
should be what it was before he volunteered for
service, but not that he should enjoy these allowances
as smething extra and additional, Another of his
grievances seems to be a claim for fees as Harshal of
2.2.21
